At TorontoGMAT.com, we do not believe that it makes sense to spend the same amount of time on each section, regardless of the student's background. Some students may need little help in the quantitative areas, for example.
However, we do feel that everyone can benefit from certain GMAT-specific tips, even with a strong background in a particular area. For this reason, the following is recommended as a foundation, with any additional hours being used where it is believed the greatest benefit in score will result.
| Concept | Time | Focus |
| General test/time management   | 1 hr | .
| | General Quant | 2 hr | Commonly tested concepts, and tips on easily performing supporting calculations
| | Data Sufficiency | 1 hr | How to avoid calculations, and what to do when there is no shortcut
| | Sentence Correction | 2 hr | Developing a process that guarantees the common tricks are looked at first
| | Reading Comprehension | 2 hr | Practicing the 'roadmap' technique -- possibly the most valuable GMAT tactic
| | Critical Reasoning | 1 hr | How to determine which of 3 approaches is right for each question type
